MEET SUSANNAH HORWITZ, LPC, THERAPIST IN GOLDEN, CO
A down-to-earth approach to discovering your inner wisdom.
You want to feel more balanced and positive, but most mornings, the sound of your alarm fills you with anxiety, dread, or panic.
This could be because you…
Constantly feel pulled in a million different directions, trying to be everything for everyone, but somewhere along the way, you’ve lost touch with yourself.
Feel like your body is a stranger sometimes—like it’s just carrying you through the day instead of being a part of you.
Have spent so long playing by the rules, keeping the peace, and doing what’s “right,” that listening to your own voice feels almost impossible.
Love creating, imagining, and dreaming, but there’s a part of you that whispers, “What if it’s not safe to just be me?”
Have learned to mask certain parts of yourself in ways that make perfect sense but are exhausting, and you wonder what it would feel like to finally trust your inner voice instead of being confused by it.
I’M SO GLAD YOU’RE HERE.
I get what you’re going through—and no, you’re not “crazy.”
Therapy with me is curious, steady, and grounded—I’ll meet you right where you are without any pretense, and you’re welcome to come as you are. I bring a good sense of humor into our work together because healing doesn’t always have to feel heavy, and a big part of our work will be about helping you reconnect with joy.
We’ll take our time, moving at a pace that feels right for you, especially when it comes to exploring the parts of your world that might feel scary to share. I’ll always be willing to slow down and answer your questions, making sure you feel at ease about the process, especially when we’re trying something new.
I believe in making therapy approachable, playful, and always rooted in deep care and respect for your boundaries. Whether we’re meeting virtually or taking therapy outside into nature, you’ll find that I’m someone who can hold the hard things with compassion and remind you that what you’re feeling is so deeply human.
HOW WORKING WITH ME IS DIFFERENT
-
Nature has this magic about it—it helps us stay present, tune into ourselves, and notice things we might otherwise miss. That’s why I’ve centered my practice around offering outdoor sessions.
Since these sessions will take place in public outdoor spaces, I’ll take time before we get started to answer your questions related to confidentiality, staying safe from potential weather, what options we have for moving indoors if being outside becomes overwhelming, and anything else that comes to mind.
We’ll meet at the front of my office building before we head out together. Then, we’ll step into the outdoors, where nature becomes a co-therapist. There are several different paths nearby that we can take, and as we walk, we may pause to sit and reflect or do activities together. (And don’t worry, we stay close enough to civilization for you to have access to a restroom if needed.)
-
Whether we’re noticing the colors of the changing seasons, listening to a meaningful song together, or tapping into the sensations in your body, the kind of therapy I do invites you to be here, now.
We’ll use art, music, or movement to process things words can’t quite reach. By tuning into your senses and using these non-verbal tools, we also create space for your body to release tension and anxiety it’s been holding onto—like a deer shaking off the stress of escaping a predator. I love the way these kinds of sensory experiences can spark a sense of childlike curiosity and wonder—it’s playful, creative, and deeply freeing.
These approaches remind us that everything is always changing, even when you feel stuck, and they help you notice the beauty, cycles, and connections in life that can bring a sense of calm and perspective.
-
Tuning into your senses will also help you reconnect with your body in a way that feels less like a battle and more like a friendship.
Over time, you’ll strengthen your ability to listen to your body’s signals, appreciating what it’s trying to tell you instead of fighting against it. Learning to feel present in your body and move through the physical sensations that accompany emotions can help reduce or even eliminate the physical symptoms of stress, anxiety, and burnout, so you can feel more at ease in your own skin.
As you deepen this connection, you might find yourself feeling calmer, more grounded, and even more loving toward your body—learning to trust and care for it in ways that truly feel good.
-
Our sessions will typically be 90 minutes long, giving us plenty of time to slow down and create space for trust and exploration. If you’re someone who needs time to ease into conversations or process your thoughts and feelings, these extended meetings can make all the difference. You don’t have to rush or feel pressured here—everything moves at your pace.
I also offer even longer intensive sessions for focused, in-depth work—if that’s something you’re curious about, you can read more about it on my EMDR page here.
-
For me, therapy is about helping you reconnect with joy and find freedom in the ways you move through the world. It’s about stepping away from old ideas about therapy being for those who are broken or damaged, and instead recognizing healing as a natural, ongoing process we do in relationship—with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us.
We’ll explore what brings you joy, what stands in the way, and how you can savor beauty, safety, and connection, even in the midst of challenges. This work can ripple outward—healing not just for you but for your relationships, your communities, and even systems that have held people back for generations. It’s about imagining and building a freer, more connected future for all of us.
